How to Apply Perfume Safely
Perfume is one of the most personal accents we wear. It can become a ritual, a memory, a sense of presence. And to make that ritual not only beautiful but also safe, it’s worth knowing a few simple yet meaningful principles.
There’s no right or wrong – only the effect you want
Fragrance behaves differently depending on where it’s applied.
On skin, it feels warmer and more alive, shifting with your body’s temperature and movement.
On clothing, it tends to last longer but remains calmer and more stable.
It’s all about the feeling you wish to create — a quiet, intimate scent or a more expressive trail that fills the air.
Pulse points – the warmth of life
Applying perfume to pulse points (such as the wrists, inner elbows, or behind the ears) allows it to open and evolve with your natural heat.
It “breathes” with you — changing throughout the day and revealing new nuances over time.
The scent trail – on your back or in your hair
For a lighter, more diffused effect, try spraying perfume on your upper back or hair.
This creates a subtle scent trail that follows you without overwhelming your own senses.
However, keep in mind that most perfumes contain alcohol, which can dry out or damage hair, especially if it’s fine, bleached, or colour-treated.
If your hair is sensitive, spray a small amount onto your hairbrush or clothing instead — the scent will still linger beautifully without direct contact.
On clothing – for longevity
If you want the scent to last longer, applying perfume on clothing can be effective.
Always test it on a small, hidden area first to ensure it doesn’t stain delicate fabrics such as silk or wool.
Spray from a little distance so that the perfume settles as a soft mist.

Avoid the thyroid area
Even gentle fragrances should not be applied directly over the thyroid area.
It’s a sensitive zone with thinner skin — it’s safer to choose other pulse points or spray lightly on clothing instead.
Your ritual, not a rule
Applying perfume is a personal ritual.
There are no strict rules — only the effect you wish to create.
Whether your scent stays close to you or radiates softly into the air, let it be a conscious, daily gesture that connects you with your mood, your presence, and your story.
